ABS Modules

If the ECU determines that the wheel is approaching lock up, it will close the modulator valve at that wheel and prohibit the passage of any additional air to the brake chamber. When the ECU senses that the wheel speed in is in line with the others, it will open the modulator valve and let additional air pressure enter the brake chamber and the process begins again. This process occurs up to six times per second.

Air Dryers

An Air Dryer helps to keep the system free of contaminants. A filter, typically containing a desiccant, is installed between the compressor and service reservoir to remove moisture and oil from the air before it enters the reservoir.

Brake Chambers

All trucks, truck tractors, and buses must be equipped with emergency brakes and parking brakes. They must be held on by mechanical force (because air pressure can eventually leak away). Spring brakes are usually used to meet these needs. When driving, powerful springs are held back by air pressure. If the air pressure is removed, the springs put on the brakes.

Clutch Servos

CV Airbrakes offer a comprehensive range of new copy and remanufactured clutch servos. All remanufactured clutch servos are rebuilt using quality components. All clutch servos are tested prior to despatch and carry a full 12 month unlimited mileage warranty.

Compressors

The air compressor pumps air into the air storage tanks (reservoirs). The air compressor is connected to the engine through gears or a v-belt. The compressor may be air cooled or may be cooled by the engine cooling system. It may have its own oil supply or be lubricated by engine oil.

ECU's

The ECU is the brain of the ABS system. The wheel sensors are located on a minimum of two, or up to all six sets of wheels, depending on the system. The wheel sensors constantly send information to the ECU. When a brake
application is made and the system detects a wheel locking–up, the ECU sends a message to the ABS valves to release brake pressure on that particular wheel preventing lockup.

Foot Brake Valves

Pushing the pedal down harder applies more air pressure. Letting up on the brake pedal reduces the air pressure and releases the brakes. Releasing the brakes lets some compressed air go out of the system, so the air pressure in the tanks is reduced. It must be made up by the air compressor. Pressing and releasing the pedal unnecessarily can let air out faster than the compressor can replace it.

Hand Control Valves

In newer vehicles with air brakes, you put on the parking brakes using a diamond-shaped, yellow, push-pull control knob. You pull the knob out to put the parking brakes (spring brakes) on, and push it in to release them. On older vehicles, the parking brakes may be controlled by a lever. Use the parking brakes whenever you park.

Solenoid Valves

With an extensive range of core CV Airbrakes are able to offer an exchange service on most makes of solenoid vales including ABS and EBS.

Disc Brake Actuators

The air–activated heavy truck disc brake is similar in principle to that used on passenger vehicles. Air pressure acts on a brake chamber and slack adjuster, activating the brakes. Instead of the cam or wedge used in conventional heavy truck drum brakes, a “power screw” is used. brake chamber.

Trailer Control Valves

CV Airbrakes hold large stocks of trailer control valves to cover most makes of vehicles. Added with its comprehensive range of core units and repair kits we are able to offer a same day service for most applications.

Unloader Valves

The purpose of the unloader valve is to relieve the compressors of the pumping load when the reservoirs are charged to operating pressure. Air from the compressors enters the unloader valve through an inlet port and passes along a passage into the unloader valve chamber. When the pressure in the reservoir is below that of the unloader, the spring loaded valve remains closed and air flows via a non-return valve into the reservoir. The non-return valve retains the pressure built up in the reservoir when the compressor is not operating.

Repair Kits

CV Airbrakes offer a full range of repair kits for all types of valves, compressors, clutch servos etc.

Levelling Valves

CV Airbrakes hold a huge stock of levelling valves for truck, trailer and bus. Including Knorr Bremse, Wabco and Dunlop.

Load Sensing Valves

CV Airbrakes hold a huge stock of new copy and remanufactured Load sensing valves. Pneumatic and mechanical units to cover most truck and trailer applications are available.

Multi Circuit Protection Valves

CV Airbrakes hold a huge range of Multi Circuit Protection Valves in stock. CV Airbrakes can also offer remanufactured units to suit your requirements. Please contact use for more information.

Pressure Limiting Valves

Pressure limiting valves are available in a number of variations depending on make, port size, pressure settings etc. CV Airbrakes have the facilities to meet your requirements.

Proportional Valves

Proportional valves are used in a variety of applications including speed and door control. Please contact our sales team for price and availability.

Raise Lower Valves

A raise Lower valve is incorporated into the suspension system to raise or lower a secondary axle or to manually alter the ride height of a vehicle or trailer.

Relay Valves

Relay Valves speed brake application and help to apply equal pressure. CV Airbrakes can offer a full range of new copy and remanufactured relay valves from stock.

Brake Calipers

Brake Calipers

CV Airbrakes currently offer a quality in house rebuilt DX195 calipers for Meritor applications. However a comprehensive range of CV calipers will soon be available.

Automatic Slack Adjusters

Automatic Slack Adjusters

A lever that connects the brake chamber push rod with the foundation brake camshaft. It provides torque to rotate the brake camshaft when the brake pedal is depressed. It also provides a means of adjusting clearance between brake shoes and drum to compensate for lining wear. CV Airbrakes holds a comprehensive range of automatic slack adjusters for all makes of trucks and trailers.
